Bollywood Actor Emraan Hashmi House Pics

Emraan Hashmi takes us on a tour of his dream house. He is the powerhouse performer and B-town has finally woken up to him. His scorching affair with the box office continues unabated... There’s something about Emraan Hashmi that endears him to the art as well as mart. We catch him one sunny morning, chilling at home. Stardom thrown aside. So whilst we had a ball shooting him in his duplex at Bandra, he confides it’s the first whole morning he spent in his upscale nest.

My balcony is like a walking track. My friends think so too. It’s unique to have a balcony running around the entire house – that is it’s a connected verandah from room to room. We have a net encircling it because birds come in from the trees around. They keep flying into the balcony and in the process get hurt. I love balconies...

I usually have my morning cup of coffee/tea out in the balcony where we’ve got a coffee table and some seating arrangement. Considering it’s high and out, you don’t have people staring. Thankfully, there aren’t many buildings around us.

Interestingly, through the photo-shoot his four-year-old son, Ayaan Hashmi, called the shots. Taking over daddy’s every frame, chasing the spotlight… Ayaan was totally high on sugar. So while Emraan posed for our shutterbug, we preferred ditching him for the adorable chip off the old block - Hashmi junior.

My wife had picked up many things for Ayaan. She’s good at decorating kids’ stuff as she was a kindergarten teacher earlier. She had the walls coloured and did up the place all in one day. As for Ayaan, he just likes to make a mess. He’s happiest when he’s left alone in his space. He colours the floor but since the paints are washable, it can be cleaned. Frankly, the mess gets to me but you can’t argue with a kid.

This house is undeniably my dream house. It’s something I’ve always wanted. Being centrally located at Pali Village, it’s convenient. Also it’s in the same building, just a floor above my earlier flat. It’s like our house just got bigger. My parents live on the floor below mine. I love the tranquility of the lane I’ve grown up in. I was born here, in this building. I’m so attached to my family and friends that not having to move out has been a blessing.

My wife is a computer person so you’ll usually find her in the computer room or the TV room. It’s got a home theatre as we watch a lot of movies. We just hook it up to the MAC.

We moved in on March 20, 2011. We threw a party since it happened to be my birthday too. It doubled up as a house warming of sorts. We had a few friends come over. I don’t like to hang out at home by myself, except when Parveen and Ayaan are around. The house has not been formally designed as yet. The furniture is temporary as we were keen to move in as soon as possible. The plans of getting an architect or interior designer have been kept on hold for at least the next two years. But we shop for artifacts from everywhere. When I travel, I pick up paintings and other home accessories. Sometimes, we even ship them down. We picked up stuff from Paris and Amsterdam too. But I also shop in Mumbai with my parents and wife. It lends a personal touch to your shopping.

I like my house to be spick and span. I’m a bit finicky about that. I also don’t like people putting their feet up on the sofa. It was a habit my grandparents inculcated in me. So if my friends do that I stare them down. The living room is on the lower level and has been done up by my interior designer Faraz. We blended our tastes and also referred to books. We’ve played around with elements of white and wood, while colour comes in through the paintings, the cushions and other stuff. We didn’t want to go loud and hence the minimalistic touches. My wife Parveen (Shahani) and I have quite a few differences about the d├ęcor but we also share common tastes.
