Neil Nitin Mukesh is an Indian actor. Neil Nitin Mukesh was born Neil Nitin Mukesh Chand Mathur, on January 15, 1982 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, to Nishi Mukesh and Bollywood playback singer Nitin Mukesh, son of veteran singer Mukesh Chand Mathur. He have two siblings sister Neha & younger brother Naman Mukesh. He was named by Lata Mangeshkar after astronaut Neil Armstrong.

Mukesh studied at Greenlawns High School and HR College in Mumbai, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communications at his father's insistence. He then decided to pursue a career in acting despite being born in a family of singers. In an interview with Times of India he said, "Music is my hobby, but acting is my passion. A passion that even my grand-dad harboured. So, while my father continued his legacy and became a singer, I pursued his other passion. I am living his dream." He did a four month acting workshop with Kishore Namit Kapoor and also attended Anupam Kher's acting institute. Having done brief roles as a child artist in Vijay (1988) and Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharnii (1989), Mukesh decided to venture into acting after graduating from the HR College with a Bachelor's degree in Communications.

Mukesh made his acting debut with Sriram Raghavan's critically acclaimed film Johnny Gaddaar in 2007, for which he received a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award nomination. He subsequently earned critical acclaim for his performance in New York (2009) and Jail (2009). The former earned him a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award nomination. He was later noted for his performances in Lafangey Parindey (2010) and 7 Khoon Maaf (2011).
