Indian Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin Wife Prithi Narayanan

Ravichandran Ashwin  is an Indian international cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. He plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and the Chennai Super Kings in IPL. He is the fastest Indian bowler to take 50 wickets in Test cricket.

He is the only bowler of recent times apart from Ajantha Mendis of Sri Lanka to bowl the carrom ball. His bowling has a lot of variation.

Ravichandran Ashwin was born on Sep 17th, 1986 to Ravichandran (Father), Ashwin’s father Ravichandran was a fast bowler who played competitive cricket in Tamil Nadu & Chitra Ravichandran (Mother) into a Hindu Brahmin family. He lives in West Mambalam, Chennai. He did his schooling from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and St. Bede's. He attended SSN College of Engineering and graduated with a B.Tech in Information Technology.

On 13 November 2011, Ashwin married his childhood friend Prithi Narayanan.

Ravichandran Ashwin made his Test debut (against the West Indies) barely days before his wedding, and soon won Man of the Match. He then dedicated the trophy to his soon to be wife corporate professional, Prithi. They first met in Class VIII.

“Yes, we went to the same school and we were classmates, but it wasn't until much later that we started seeing each other,“ says Prithi. “We started dating only in late 2010 or almost early 2011.“ And Ashwin was set on a long innings. “I was very clear about my relationship status right from the start: I was in it for the long haul, we both were. I was travelling for a long time, she was busy with work and we realised this could take a toll on our relationship. So we thought we'd get together first, and sort out our differences later,“ says the spinner. There was, however, a googly because Ashwin was famously late for his own wedding. Cricket took a little blame. “He had made his test debut just a little before that and he was late for the muhurtham and I was a little worried but it all just added to the drama,“ says Prithi.

Also, how's the Mrs dealing with all the cricket and, ahem, the fans?

“Yes, I am aware of the fact that Ashwin has a lot of female fans and I would be lying if I said that I don't get jealous. Firstly, I don't have a choice, (laughs) and secondly, I don't let it affect me. If we're mobbed, I can also get pretty rude. I used to watch cricket like any other girl. I grew up in a family of women and my dad didn't seem to think it too important to teach us the intricate nuances of the game. I knew that there was something up on the board, and people had to do something to achieve that target. However, things have changed now. I have an insider's perspective.“

That perspective also helps the two cope with the demanding schedules of India's favourite sport.

“The expectations are there to spend time together. It doesn't happen very often with us, but when it does, we are happy just being together. She makes it a point to travel with me whenever possible,“ adds Ashwin.

“However, if I don't want to discuss a game after I come back home (irrespective of whether it was a good game or not), Prithi understands that. I have actually taken the time out to explain certain psychological aspects to her as well. For instance, when test matches happen, the matches happen, the day before the test would be more gruelling than the actual five days of the match. I might not be in the mind to do anything during that time. “
