Tainted cricketer from the Indian team, S Sreesanth, who was in the middle of a betting controversy some time back, has a reason to smile now.

Indian cricketer Sreesanth tied knot with his long time girlfriend with Bhuvaneswari Shekhawat, a jewellery designer from Jaipur was held on Dec 12, 2013 at Sree Krishna temple in Guruvayur, Kerala. About 100 close relatives of the bride and bridegroom - both were dressed in traditional Malayali wedding costumes - attended the function.

Sreesanth's bride, known as Nayan to those close to her, belongs to the Diwanpura royal family from Rajasthan and the marriage took place after the couple's 6 year-long love affair. They met at Jaipur in 2006 when Sreesanth arrived there to play for India. According to Sreesanth's relatives, she remained his pillar of strength when he went through difficulties like the spot-fixing case followed by a month's confinement in Tihar jail.

"It was a quiet affair attended by relatives only," said Deepu Santh, the cricketer's elder brother. The grand wedding reception in the evening to be held at the Le Meridien, a five-star hotel in Sreesanth's native Kochi is expected to be attended by cricketers, film stars etc. His relatives ruled out earlier reports that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would attend the wedding reception.

The traditional north Indian-style Sangeet ceremony with Rajasthani folk dance, music and Bollywood songs was held on December 10 at Kochi.
